NAP consistency: why Google Business Profile and your website must match
NAP means Name, Address, Phone. When those details drift between your WordPress site and Google Business Profile, local visibility gets harder — even if your blog posts look polished.
Where NAP usually breaks
- Footer still shows an old address after a move
- Contact page uses a tracking number while GBP shows the main line
- “Joe’s Plumbing” vs “Joe’s Plumbing LLC” vs “Joes Plumbing”
- Schema still publishing a stale suite number
How to fix it
- Choose one source of truth. Usually legal name + primary customer phone + storefront or service-area HQ.
- Update WordPress everywhere that NAP appears. Header, footer, contact, about, location pages.
- Align Google Business Profile. Fix GBP if it is wrong — or update the site if GBP is correct.
- Check schema output. LocalBusiness markup should match the same NAP.
- Re-check after every change. Moves, rebrands, and new phone lines are common regression points.
